MULTI-UNIT EXCELLENCE?

imageimageimageimage

Why does ‘chain anything’ have a bad connotation or at least represent mediocrity?  I believe the measure of anything is the RESULT. When confronted with the ‘RESULT’  many chain executives choose to compromise quality and reduce the degree of difficulity rather than confront the management required to maintain EXCELLENCE.

Sorry, but marketing does not change or even mask the RESULT. The RESULT of this ‘CHAIN’ of events is mediocrity. I address this in my upcoming book. Friday’s was an institution not a chain by using management tools aimed at an UNCOMPROMISING standard of EXCELLENCE! Another shameless BOOK plug!

Trying to compromise EXCELLENCE is like trying to let a little air out of a balloon with at hat pin!”  – Daniel. R. Scoggin

MEDIOCRITY CREATES OPPURTUNITY

imageimageimage imageimageI love food! I love really good food! I love innovative food.  Today’s chain restaurants are not much more than vending machines of pre-prepared and frozen food. Mediocrity in FOOD and excellence in advertising seems to be the forcus. In my upcoming book I talk about MEDIOCRITY CREATING OPPORTUNITY.  Innovation is confined to how to bundle various un-innovative food choices.

HERE COME THE INNOVATORS AND FRESH FOOD PURVEYORS…….FOOD TRUCKS! What an opportunity the malaise of mediocrity among the chain restaurants has created. If you haven’t caught the wave, I am sure it’s in your town, special off grid gatherings of these wizards, give it a try. We do every time we are in San Francisco. If you are in Philly be sure and catch up with ‘Joe Spud’!

Enthusiasm – Where is the switch?

enthusiasm+quoteenthusiasm NU_Excellence_800x600

It’s easy to find quotes, pictures, posters almost an endless supply of material, extolling the virtues of enthusiasm. We all love to be enthusiastic. It’s a great feeling. It seems to give us and endless supply of energy, so that we can go on tirelessly doing what we are enthusiastic about. I have found the on/off switch!  It’s mediocrity! It is an absolute, mediocrity turns the switch off and excellence turns it on. Think about it next time you are in a business environment, IS IT AN ENTHUSIASTIC  ONE?

“Only the mediocre are always at their best.” – Jean Giraudoux
